Congratulations
Welcome to the Final Stage of Your Landscaping Journey!
At Earth Design Landscaping, the most important thing to us is your happiness and satisfaction. We understand that the completion phase of a landscaping project can bring a mix of excitement and questions. To ensure you're well-informed and to make this final phase as seamless as possible, we've created this page.
Here, you'll find essential information about what to expect as we wrap up your project. This guide is designed to clarify any uncertainties and ensure your transition into enjoying your new landscape is smooth and joyful.
As we approach the final phase of your landscaping project, we want to express our deepest gratitude for entrusting us with this transformation. Our team is excited to see you enjoy the new space we've crafted together.
Understanding Practical Completion
In line with the QBCC contract, 'Practical Completion' marks the day we conclude our work on-site. This term means that although the main work is complete, there might be minor omissions or defects that don't significantly hinder the use of your new landscape. These are not unusual and whilst we always do our best to avoid defective work, it can happen.
About Defects: A Natural Part of Landscaping
The term 'defect' might sound concerning, but it's a common industry term for minor issues, for example unsecured garden edging or incomplete grouting. These are typically simple oversights or innocent mistakes, not indicators of poor workmanship.
We encourage you to take a stroll through your new landscape and note anything that catches your eye. Your observations are invaluable, and our team is ready to address any concerns promptly, as outlined in the QBCC contract (Condition 29.2 and 29.3).
Reporting Defects: We're Here to Help
If you notice anything amiss, please feel free to reach out. You can use Form 6 from the QBCC contract or simply email us with photos and descriptions. Otherwise, chat to our onsite lead-hand; you can walk through the project together and discuss your concerns. We are committed to rectifying any defects within 20 business days or an agreed timeframe, ensuring your landscape meets both our standards and your expectations.
Understanding Your Choices: Materials, Movement, and Limitations
As we craft your new landscape, your choice of materials plays a pivotal role. While we offer guidance and recommendations, we respect your final decisions. It's important to note that each material comes with its own set of inherent characteristics.
For instance, choosing porcelain pavers might lead to nuances like sharp edges or slight movement if laid on compacted road base. These are not defects, but rather natural outcomes of the material's properties and installation method. Likewise, with paving (stone, porcelain or otherwise), a certain degree of movement is expected over time. This movement or the natural settling of pavers is a characteristic of the landscaping process, not a flaw.
Our commitment to your satisfaction includes providing the best advice and options for your landscape. However, there are situations where we may not repair items that stem from the inherent characteristics of the materials chosen. This approach ensures that both craftsmanship and material choice are fairly accounted for in the final outcome.
We are here to answer any questions and offer clarity on what to expect with different materials. Our goal is for you to fully enjoy and appreciate the beauty and functionality of your new outdoor space, with a clear understanding of the natural behaviours of the materials used.
What's Next: Form 7 and Final Steps
Upon completion, we'll provide a Form 7 - Certificate of Practical Completion which we will also need you to sign. This, along with final payment (and Form 6 if defects are noted), marks the completion of the project.
Our Commitment to You
Your satisfaction is our top priority. We're not just building landscapes; we're cultivating lasting relationships. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Our team is dedicated to ensuring your happiness with your new outdoor space.
Thank you for choosing us for your landscaping journey. We can’t wait for you to enjoy the beautiful results.
